The Steam release adds a native build for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck, with offline play, preloaded assets, faster launches, less jitter on older or distant hardware, and cross-play on the same account. The native client also offers better performance and no ads.
The browser game at openfront.io remains free and needs no download. It shares Steam's servers and players, so both routes remain in one cross-platform multiplayer pool.
The $4.99 OpenFront edition includes one month of Warlord, unique cosmetics, a verified name, custom patterns, offline play, and trusted account status.
The $9.99 OpenFront Masters edition includes one month of Sovereign, cosmetics unavailable with the base edition, and everything included with the $4.99 edition.
The Steam client is ad-free, and the current release rule also states that any purchase makes the player ad-free for life.
