Release date and product status
OpenFront’s planned Steam release date is September 17, 2026.
That date applies to the paid Steam game. OpenFront is already available free in a browser at openfront.io, with no download required.
The Steam and browser versions share the same servers and players, support cross-platform multiplayer, and keep the community in one player pool.
What you can do now
- Wishlist the Steam game to receive a notification when it goes live.
- Play the free browser version at openfront.io immediately instead of waiting for the Steam release.
- Choose the browser version for free access; the browser version remains free while the Steam game is paid.
- Expect Steam matches to share servers and players with the browser version, including cross-platform multiplayer.
