What you are fighting for

OpenFront, including Steam app 3560670, is developed by OpenFront Inc and Evan Pellegrini. It is a massively multiplayer real-time strategy game where hundreds of real players fight simultaneously on one shared world map.

You begin with a small territory, expand into undefended land, pressure weaker neighbors, accumulate gold, build your military, form alliances, and push toward dominance while the wider war continues in real time.

The ordinary objective is to control about 80% of non-fallout land. Water does not count, nuclear fallout reduces the usable land pool, and FFA Overtime can lower the target in steps after minute 30; public FFA may enable Overtime by default.

Start your first match

  1. Play free at openfront.io in a browser without downloading anything. The browser and Steam versions share the same servers, players, and cross-platform multiplayer pool, including players joining by phone.
  2. Open the Steam product page for Steam app 3560670, which has a planned release date of September 17, 2026.
  3. For a first attempt, choose either a public FFA match or a quieter single-player match against bots in the free browser client.
  4. Follow the getting-started route through spawning, establishing a repeatable growth habit, and keeping purchases inexpensive until the map runs out of Bots. Continue until your first City and first Port are built, then return to the Guides Hub for the next problem.
